The NNP will provide specialized care for newborns with a wide spectrum of illnesses and prematurity, as well as healthy infants. The successful candidate will be part of a team that offers a high quality of care, support, and education to patients and their families. Details about the opportunity/NICU are listed below:Staffing Model/Schedule: Neonatologists and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners share the work at each facility12 or 24 hr. shifts for NNPs with flexible, self-schedulingResponsibilities include:Delivery attendanceDay-to-day management of NICU and Newborn Nursery patientsPParticipate in multi-disciplinary rounds to provide collaborative, team-based care of NICU patients including but not limited to ventilator management, nutrition management, lab review, and meeting with familiesHigh-frequency ventilation (HFOV and HFJV), inhaled nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia, pediatric surgeryNo cardiac surgery, except for PDAs; no ECMOSubspecialty supportResponsibilities:
- Provide direct care to newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), including diagnosing and treating illnesses.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to formulate a plan of care for each patient.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization procedures as needed.
- Coordinate and conduct parental education and counseling sessions to support the family's understanding of the newborn's condition and care plan.
- Participate in research activities and contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends and developments in neonatal care through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring patient safety at all times.
- A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice.
- A minimum years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or equivalent experience as a physician in a neonatal setting.
- Excellent clinical skills with the ability to make decisions in high-stress situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining current knowledge of advancements in neonatal care.
