Computer Engineer, Senior
Clearance Level: US Citizen with active Secret clearance
Location: Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD
Hours: Monday – Friday, normal business hours
Hybrid Eligible: Yes, subject to agency policy
Travel: Up to 25%
Roles/Responsibilities:
In the role of Computer Engineer, Senior, you will leverage your expertise to provide professional engineering services that require the application of advanced technical knowledge to:
· Research, design, develop, test, evaluate, and maintain computer hardware and software systems in a fully integrated manner.
· Apply fundamentals and principles of professional engineering to complex system architectures.
· Manage and integrate computer hardware, systems software, and computer system architecture.
· Utilize advanced mathematical principles—including calculus, probability, statistics, discrete structures, and modern algebra—to solve engineering challenges.
· Oversee the integration of hardware and software components to ensure seamless system performance.
· Provide technical leadership and high-level engineering support throughout the system lifecycle.
· Conduct Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of communication protocols and systems (e.g., TLS 1.3, SRTP, IPSec) used in conjunction with INE devices, including functional, performance, and security testing.
· Ensure testing encompasses protocol conformance testing, interoperability testing with various vendor implementations, and performance testing under varying network conditions (bandwidth, latency, packet loss).
· Utilize automated testing tools where possible and provide detailed reports documenting test procedures, results, and identified discrepancies. Specific protocols to be evaluated will be provided by the Government. HAIPE testing shall adhere to the latest NSA Publications related to cryptographic protocol validation.
Requirements:
· Education: Master's Degree; Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another related engineering/technical discipline is required.
· Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in professional computer engineering.
· Education Substitution: Ten (10) additional years of related experience may substitute for a Master's degree.
· Technical Skills: Deep expertise in systems software, hardware-software integration, and the application of advanced mathematics (calculus, discrete structures, etc.) to engineering problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working within a DoD Program Executive Office (PEO), Project Manager (O6 PM), or Product Manager (O5 PdM) environment.
· Proven track record of managing large-scale, integrated computer system projects from research through maintenance.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex mathematical structures into functional engineering solutions.
