Location: Charleston, SC, USA (On-Site)Position Type: Contract (24 Months Expected)Compensation: Rate Open (Competitive, based on experience)Vacancies: 1 Matrix HR is seeking a skilled Network Field Engineer to provide essential on-site support at customer locations in Charleston, SC. This role acts as the physical extension for remote network engineering teams, focusing on critical network hardware deployment, cabling, troubleshooting, and configuration within enterprise environments. If you are a hands-on professional with a strong background in network infrastructure and a commitment to seamless operations, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major client in the automotive and transportation industry.Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and upgrade various network devices, including switches, routers, and access points.
Perform Layer 2 configuration tasks, such as STP, VTP, LACP, and VLANs.
Deploy and provide ongoing support for Wi-Fi networks and their controllers.
Conduct physical troubleshooting related to hardware, connectivity, and cabling issues.
Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Collaborate effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, and client IT teams.
Provide crucial on-site support for remote engineers during implementation and issue resolution.
Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and capacity planning activities to ensure network resilience.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in network engineering or a related field.
Technical Skills:
- Proven experience with network hardware deployment, cabling, and configuration.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with Layer 2 configurations (STP, VTP, LACP, VLANs).
- Experience in deploying and supporting Wi-Fi networks and controllers.
- Proficiency in physical troubleshooting of network infrastructure.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Experience working in client-facing or on-site support roles.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with remote teams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently at client locations.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are considered a significant asset.
Language: Native or bilingual proficiency in English is required.

Work Environment and Schedule This is an on-site position in Charleston, SC, requiring local candidates. The expected job duration is 24 months. Work permits accepted include US citizen, Green card, Green card-EAD, and H-1B. W-2 employment at the vendor is not required.
