Position Type: Contract (12 Months)Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PMPay Rate: $115/hr (DOE)Per Diem: Available (site-specific, rules apply)
IMPORTANT: Must be a U.S. Citizen (Nuclear industry requirement)
Position Overview
System One is seeking experienced Nuclear Engineer V – Electrical professionals to support major power plant upgrade and modification projects across multiple nuclear sites.
This role will be responsible for leading electrical engineering design, modification packages, and system improvements that enhance plant performance, safety, and reliability. Candidates must be capable of working independently, leading technical efforts, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Perform electrical engineering design and analysis for nuclear power plant systems and modifications
Develop specifications, engineering calculations, and modification packages
Define system design scope and develop design criteria documentation
Evaluate and select electrical equipment, components, and instrumentation
Support system functionality development and integration across disciplines
Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
Interface with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality for assigned projects
Lead and mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight
Support plant walkdowns and field execution activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET accredited – Electrical or related discipline preferred)
20+ years of engineering experience, including:
10+ years in commercial nuclear power
Strong experience with plant systems, upgrades, and modifications
Experience with nuclear plant procedures, operations, and licensing
Knowledge of applicable NRC regulations, codes, and standards
Experience reviewing and approving engineering designs and documentation
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Prior field experience on nuclear plant projects
Additional Requirements
Ability to support travel and on-site work as needed
Ability to perform plant walkdowns, including climbing ladders and accessing controlled areas
Willingness to work overtime when required
Must pass background, drug screening, and security clearance requirements
