At Westinghouse, we recognize that our employees are our most valuable asset and we seek to identify, attract and recruit the most qualified talent while recognizing and encouraging the value of diversity in the global workplace.

About the role:

As a Safety Analysis Engineer, you will work with safety of nuclear power plants, build models, perform simulations and draw qualitative conclusions from numerical results. You will be the first out of a few other to follow to build a small US-based team. The BWR Westinghouse center of excellence located in Sweden will train and oversee you, and you will become independent in a mid-range horizon. Therefore, we offer one-of-a-kind opportunity for you to be there from the beginning and grow with the team.

You will report to the BWR Safety & Analysis Manager, located in Sweden, but you will be located in the US in a hybrid capacity in Cranberry Township, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce BWR safety analysis, in particular for Loss-of-Coolant Accident (LOCA).

  • Critically analyze results and produce technical documentation supporting internal, customer, and regulatory projects.

  • Assess models and correlations for prediction of two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena.

  • Evaluate impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis.

  • Coordinate and integrate complex technical projects that encompass multiple departments; achieve established budget and schedule requirements.

  • Work with customers and multi-functional project teams as an expert resource of the engineering discipline.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to communicate status, problem resolution or promote related business products.

  • Support development of new methods and processes for implementing technical requirements. Prepare technical documents for associated licensing approvals and provide expertise and consultation to technical panels, reviews, committees, regulators, customers, and partners on different Safety Analysis related topics.

  • Support and provide technical leadership for special projects and major programs such as fuel transition projects, advanced plant designs and operations, and resolution of customer needs and emergent issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in one of the following engineering disciplines: Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Technical skills combined with an ability to structure workload.

  • Experience leading meetings and developing and delivering presentations.
