Serve as the link between the School/Home/Community and assist students in achieving success in school.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:
- A Graduate from high school or a general education degree is required.
- One to three months of related experience and/or training.
Language Skills:
- Speak, read, and write the Inupiaq language.
- Read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff, and the public.
Preference:
- Inupiaq-speaking and cultural experience preferred.
Mathematical Skills:
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Class D Alaska Driver’s License
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Lift 40 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate communications among parents, teachers, administrators, students, and supporting agencies to ensure the success of students.
- Interact positively with students.
- Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
- Monitor student attendance and progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
- Refer students’ attendance and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
- Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
- Adhere to all District policies and regulations.
- Support the value of education and the philosophy and mission of the District.
