Description
Wound Care Technicians are responsible for providing specialized support in the delivery of wound care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse. They perform tasks in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of New Mexico and follow the policies and procedures of Cibola General Hospital. Responsibilities include assisting with wound assessment, cleaning, dressing changes, and ensuring proper documentation to support optimal patient healing and comfort.
Wound Care Technician
- Must have good organizational and communication skills
- Basic computer skills are required
- Understanding and ability to perform sterile technique.
- Proper care of and cleansing of instruments.
- PAR level and supply maintenance.
- Assisting Providers in performing wound care treatments, cleansing wounds, applying dressings to name a few
- Obtaining of medical records internally and externally.
- Setting up referrals as needed.
- Assist with care of patients of varying ages.
- Must know (or willing to learn)" Wound care principles/Wound Healing Concepts"
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Requires combination of education and experience with knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the performance of duties assigned.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal tactfully with staff, physicians, patients and their families.
- Must be willing to assist staff with various tasks as assigned, including floating to other areas of the hospital.
- Must have knowledge and abilities to take care of patients of different age categories.
- Requires current BLS certification or required to receive within 90 days.
