Avera McKennan HospitalWork Shift:Day Shift (United States of America)The pay range for this position is listed below. May be eligible for a $3000 sign on bonusMonday through Friday 0700-1200This nurse will complete venous and central lab specimen collections for the oncology patient population. This position is located in the Prairie Center and serves the Avera Cancer Institute clinic patients. Hours for the position are 7:30 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. This location is closed on weekends and holidays.Be part of a multidisciplinary team built with compassion and the goal of Moving Health Forward for you and our patients. The RN is responsible for the collection of Line-Based specimens as well as peripheral vein phlebotomy. The RN is responsible for providing front line evaluation of patient condition presentation to ensure that any variance is brought to the attention of the appropriate clinician in a timely manner in accordance with established protocols.Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; conferring with physicians.Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals; instructing patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care standards; re-evaluating care objectives; modifying nursing care plan.Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock; stocking items.
