Job Description

Position Overview

CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and urgent care at a federal correctional institution in Oxford, Wisconsin. FCI Oxford is a medium-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp in rural central Wisconsin. You will manage a panel of incarcerated patients, conducting sick call assessments, chronic care visits, and intake screenings under physician collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans within scope of practice
  • Manage chronic disease clinics including diabetes, hypertension, HIV, hepatitis C, and respiratory conditions
  • Perform intake physical examinations and health screening assessments
  • Prescribe medications per BOP formulary guidelines
  • Order and interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and diagnostic tests
  • Provide urgent care and coordinate transfers when indicated
  • Document clinical encounters in the BOP electronic health record
  • Participate in quality assurance and infection control activities

Required Qualifications

  • MSN with NP certification or Master of Physician Assistant Studies
  • National certification (AANP/ANCC for NPs; NCCPA for PAs)
  • Active, unrestricted Wisconsin license (or ability to obtain)
  • Active DEA registration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to pass federal background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Correctional healthcare or community health experience
  • Familiarity with BOP clinical practice guidelines
