Job Description
This Nursery Site Leader position is located in Olympia, WA and reports to the Western Regeneration Team Leader. This role is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the Mima Bareroot Forest Nursery and the delivery of high performing seed and seedlings to Western Timberlands operations and external customers. The scope of accountabilities spans a broad set of areas including safety, operations, quality, environmental, financial, and innovation.
Weyerhaeuser's Western Regeneration business operates three bareroot seedling nurseries, two greenhouse facilities, three seed orchards and a seed processing facility producing seed and seedlings for use on company lands and for sale to third parties.
Key Functions:
The Mima Site Leader is responsible/accountable for leading the team of 4 professional staff, 8 union hourly production employees and up to 100 contractors to achieve best in class results. The main functions for this role include:
Work with Western Regen Lead Team to set strategic and tactical goals for the operation relating to performance metrics and results for safety, environmental, financial, quality and customer value delivery
Provide daily leadership and supervision of company and contract crews while performing nursery activities associated with seedling production - including transplanting, irrigation, growing, inventory, frost protection, harvest packing and shipping, and maintenance
Oversee facility safety and environmental programs and production
Role model Weyerhaeuser company values and promote/ensure a safe work environment
Effectively prioritize, plan, implement and manage activities to meet targets and deadlines
Balance labor resources to ensure continuous improvement in safety, quality, production, and costs
Operating & managing against an annual budget - tracking unit costs and productivity and constant innovation in efficiencies within quality standards
BS in Forestry, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field
Minimum of 5 years' experience in nursery, forestry, or agricultural production processes
Experience to include leadership of people (employees or contractors) or business processes
Strong business acumen with solid understanding of P&L management responsibilities
Proven strategic thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidence and credibility with customers, business leaders and employees
Flexible availability regarding days and hours of work during seasonal activities
Strong people and leadership skills; able to support and motivate a team of professionals to achieve best in class results in a high-pressure environment
Position will require residence within 30 minutes of the facility
Assets:
Advanced skills or education in forestry, plant biology, agricultural engineering, or crop science
Experience with field forestry or conifer growing
Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
What We Offer:
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $88,910-$133,506 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our contribution equal to 5% of your eligible pay.
Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
