Job Description

Premium Rate: $19.22/hr

Work Hours: Casual. Availability to work 4, 8, or 12 hour shifts. May work day, evening, night and weekends. A minimum of 32 hours a month must be scheduled with at least 16 hours scheduled on the weekend, 1 holiday per year

The central role of the Nurse Care Team Assistant (NCTA) is to support the Registered Nurse by performing basic patient care, patient sitter responsibilities and some non-clinical patient care tasks; thus allowing the Registered Nurse to focus more directly on clinical care.

The Nurse Care Team Assistant's role provides direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Works closely with patients to provide physical assistance with daily living tasks, such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, vital signs, catheter care, answering call lights, assisting with ambulation, turning, and ensuring patient safety. Technical skills may include obtaining 12 lead EKG, setting up respiratory equipment and glucometer monitoring.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Qualifications:

Requires: High school graduate or equivalent. Currently enrolled nursing student and have successfully completed first quarter/semester of nursing school.

Excellent bedside manner and customer service skills. BCLS.

Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Preferred: Previous nursing assistant experience, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), computer skills.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 32 hours a month must be scheduled with at least 16 hours scheduled on the weekend.

The weekend shifts will start at 7:00 PM on Friday, and continue through to Monday at 7:00 AM.

  • One holiday per year must be scheduled. The hourly wage while working on a holiday will be time and a half.
  • Employment status must be casual. No other status can be held.
