Job Description
- Thursdays and Fridays.
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Thursdays and Fridays (one or the other).
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
- Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 10:30 PM.
- Primary Assignment Period: August through December.
- Focus on long-term care clinical rotations and laboratory instruction.
- Additional Opportunities: January through July (per diem basis).
- Clinical coverage, program support, and occasional staff meetings and assigned instructional support days.
- Current, valid Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or currently progressing in a BSN program.
- Eligible for certification as a Teacher of Basic Skills in Nursing (Adult Education Certificate).
- Strong clinical experience in:
- Long-term care (preferred and strongly prioritized).
- Acute care (hospital setting) preferred.
- Prior teaching or precepting experience preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Coordinator of Healthcare Occupations.
- Director of Adult Education.
- Prepare and distribute clinical assignments.
- Conduct pre- and post-clinical conferences.
- Assess student readiness for clinical practice.
- Supervise and evaluate student performance in patient care settings.
- Review and evaluate clinical documentation and charting.
- Provide timely, constructive written feedback to students.
- Participate in curriculum development, revision, and implementation.
- Serve as a student advisor, meeting with assigned students at least three times per semester.
- Serve as a positive professional role model for nursing students.
- Attend faculty meetings and required program activities.
- Participate in ongoing professional development (workshops, conferences, continuing education, and professional literature).
- Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice and clinical standards.
- Communicate student progress, expectations, and performance concerns with program leadership.
- Report students at risk for unsafe or unsuccessful clinical performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Healthcare Occupations.
