Job Description
The Nursing Lab Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and daily oversight of all nursing skills and simulation laboratories. This role ensures that lab operations support high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment for CNA, BSN, and graduate nursing programs as applicable.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of skills and simulation labs
Develop, implement, and evaluate lab policies, procedures, and safety standards
Manage scheduling for lab spaces, simulations, open practice, and faculty requests
Ensure compliance with accreditation, licensure, and institutional requirements (CCNE, INACSL/SSH, state regulations)
Collaborate with faculty to design, coordinate, and support simulation scenarios and skills instruction
Operate simulation scenarios and participate in testing, assessment, and quality improvement activities
Provide technical support for manikins, task trainers, AV systems, and simulation software
Supervise lab setup, teardown, and environmental reset for all scheduled activities
Hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate lab personnel and student support staff
Train faculty and staff on simulation equipment, AV systems, and lab technologies
Manage inventory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement of lab equipment and supplies
Develop and manage the lab budget; monitor expenditures and plan for future resource needs
Support students and faculty by promoting safe practices, skills proficiency, and an inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
- Knowledge of nursing skills, simulation-based education, and equipment operation
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field
- Experience working in an academic nursing lab, simulation center, or clinical education environment
- Certification in simulation or healthcare education (e.g., CHSE, CHSOS)
- Experience with simulation software, high-fidelity manikins, and AV systems
