The role you'll perform:

Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry process, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise. Demonstrates a “spirit of inquiry” to support professional curiosity including research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using the organization’s preferred structure, i.e. PDSA (plan, do, study, act). Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assists in the implementation of the changes planned. Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Disseminates evidence-based practice findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities. Other duties as assigned.Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department using the ANPD standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the NPD Practice model using inputs, throughputs, and outcomes to ensure a systematic approach to onboarding orientation. Adjusts implementation strategies as needed based on the learner’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language, and cultural preferences. Engages learners in planned educational activities through use of effective facilitation skills.Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates activities related to training of new graduates, experienced nurses, and ancillary staff new to the unit/department based on collection of data that is used systematically and purposefully to ensure relevant and evidence-based learning for each clinician. Develop/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation. Activities include coaching of new nurses, facilitation of learning, using simulation, and tools that capture objective and subjective data about the individual’s knowledge base and actual performance. Utilizes clinical problems to promote inquiry/investigation and improvement, follows through with competency assessment of new/changed skills and concepts. Creates the safest environment possible for conducting assessment and observation of practice.Collects data to evaluate and refine competency management activities. Role models competent practice and facilitates a positive learning environment. Performs needs assessment, gap analysis, environmental scanning and identifies high risk and problem prone related practices.Designs engaging, interactive, state of the art educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development. Integrates regulatory standards to meet the requirements for continuing education contact hours, when appropriate. The programs/activities are based on identification of a professional practice gap/needs assessments, and current evidence-based practice/literature. Programs are designed to augment the knowledge, skills and attitudes of assigned staff including continuing education, in-service education, continued competence training, or new information based on unit/department needs, organization initiatives/goals and policy revisions. Develops, incorporates, and implements evidence-based plans in collaboration with content experts, representatives of target audiences, and other stakeholders to support interprofessional/team coordination of care across the continuum. Assists with students and practicing nurses to identify their learning needs, strengths, and opportunities and develops learning activities to grow skill sets based on learning needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational activities.NPD Practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning. Supports the preceptor program and provides support at the unit level to the preceptor. Promotes certification and advanced formal education.Promotes a supportive environment for students by collaborating with academic partners for student placement and a positive student experience. Implements the nursing professional development (NPD) initiatives demonstrating caring behaviors, respect, equity, inclusiveness and empathy in actions and interactions with others.Identifies opportunities for collaboration/partnership related to education and clinical practice. Effectively communicates and collaborates with relevant stakeholders related to professional development activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email, and presentation applications. [Required]• Effective professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills. [Required]• Knowledge of the American Nurses Association (ANA)/Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development [Required]• Self-directed, creative, and demonstrates initiative to fulfill the seven roles of the NPD practitioner: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for the NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions. [Preferred]• Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, OSHA) for professional specialty served. [Preferred]Education:• Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]• Master's [Preferred]Field of Study:• of Nursing or Healthcare related fieldWork Experience:

• 2+ years of nursing experience in a hospital setting [Required]
