Overview:

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care services to join our IMCU, Acute Cardiac and medical surgical team! This is a full time, Night shift role in Suffolk, VA.

Areas this role will support:

The Nursing Supervisor (RN) - Inpatient Services - will support 3 departments, Cardiac Med-Surg, Intermediate Care Unit, and general med-surg. This position will serve as a resource to the departments and will assist with performing unit audits and real-time coaching of team members.

Hours/Days:

This position is 40 hours a week- Weekdays- Night Shift / Off Shift

Manager is willing to have this individual work 5 (8 hours) OR 4 (10 hours) whatever your preference is.

Occasional Weekend and Holiday call support is required.

This role will ensure nursing leadership presence on the night shift and off shift.

The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the healthcare facility during their shift, ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and staff efficiency. This position serves as the primary liaison between departments, providing leadership, direction, and support to nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers. The Supervisor is also tasked with coordinating patient flow, managing staffing levels, responding to emergencies, and addressing any operational issues that may arise throughout their shift.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required)

  • MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

  • Registered nursing License (Required)

  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

  • Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

Experience

  • 1 year of previous management experience OR 2 years' experience in a support leadership RN position (can include charge or unit coordinator) (Required)

  • 3 years of nursing experience (Required)

  • 5+ years of nursing experience preferred

  • Medical Surgical or Oncology background preferred

  • Staff development and retention

  • Quality outcomes and patient experience
