Job Description

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Senior & Long Term Care Division / Aging Services Bureau.

This position is responsible for statewide development, implementation, and evaluation of the Older American's Act (OAA) Nutrition Services and Health Promotion programs and the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program. This position provides education, training, and assistance to contractors, Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and their service providers who implement the nutrition and health promotion programs to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Additionally, this position is responsible for monitoring and analyzing program data for the annual Older Americans Act Performance System (OAAPS) report, while also planning and execution of the annual Governor's Conference on Aging.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Knowledge of nutrition, the science of foods and their application in health and disease prevention.

  • Knowledge of specific nutritional needs of aging and disability populations.

  • Knowledge and experience in assessment and data management.

  • Skill and ability in interpretation and application of rules and regulations.

  • Meet minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition or dietetics or a related field.

  • Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or registration eligible.

  • Licensed nutritionist in Montana or licensed eligible.

  • Two years of job related experience in dietetics.

  • Public health nutrition experience is preferred.

  • Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
