Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Aide to join our Athletics Physical Therapy team. The Physical Therapy Aide will support the Athletics Physical Therapist in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation. This role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment, and performing administrative tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assistance:
Assist physical therapists in preparing patients for therapy sessions.
Help patients with exercises and mobility tasks, ensuring correct form and technique.
Provide support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
Facility Maintenance:
Ensure therapy equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Prepare and set up therapy equipment and supplies for each session.
Disinfect equipment and treatment areas according to established protocols.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records as needed.
Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a professional manner.
Assist with filing, data entry, and other clerical tasks as needed.
Communication and Teamwork:
Communicate effectively with patient and healthcare team members.
Report any patient concerns or changes in condition to the physical therapist and Director of Sports Medicine
Collaborate with team members to ensure optimal patient care and clinic efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a health-related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or therapy setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients and team members.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physical therapy techniques, and medical terminology is a plus.
- Proficiency in using office software and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry up to [weight, e.g., 50 lbs] and assist with patient mobility.
Work Environment:
- This position involves working in a clinical setting with exposure to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation.
- The role requires adherence to safety and infection control procedures.
