OB/GYN Hospitalist

Headline

We are looking for an OB/GYN Hospitalist who wants to focus on hospital-based obstetric care while working within a collaborative, privately owned, physician-led organization with a growing hospitalist presence in Arizona.

Overview & Highlights

  • Location: Arizona — exact hospital and community depend on the hospitalist program
  • Schedule: Hospital-based coverage; shift length, nights, weekends, and annual shift commitment vary by program
  • Compensation: Physician compensation generally ranges from $300,000-$550,000, depending on experience and position, with work RVU productivity incentives; hospitalist-specific compensation to be confirmed
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, life insurance, and long-term disability
  • Sign-On / Relocation: Physician sign-on bonuses generally range from $50,000-$100,000 with a retention commitment; relocation reimbursement available
  • Additional Support: Customized loan repayment arrangements and compensated leadership opportunities may be available

Location & Logistics

  • Work Environment: Hospital-based OB/GYN coverage within a privately owned, physician-led organization
  • Coverage Model: Support hospitalist programs, practice physicians, and hospital call coverage based on the applicable contract
  • Travel: Program dependent; some affiliated practices work with two hospitals located approximately 3-5 miles apart
  • Call Expectations: May include open call shifts, overflow coverage, or secondary-hospital coverage; exact expectations depend on the program
  • Start Timeline: Current and future opportunities are anticipated, including programs that may require rapid hiring. We are hiring for the right long-term fit and can be flexible on timing.

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life

This opportunity is designed for an OB/GYN who enjoys hospital-based medicine and wants to be an important part of a team coverage model. Depending on the hospital contract, you may provide obstetric hospitalist coverage, support office-based OB/GYNs, pick up call coverage, or help manage coverage at a secondary hospital.

The organization works with multiple hospitals and continues to pursue new hospitalist programs. A newly awarded program could create several physician openings on a relatively short timeline, making this a strong opportunity for physicians interested in joining and helping establish a growing coverage team.

Specific responsibilities—including delivery volume, GYN emergencies, high-risk obstetrics, procedures, shift structure, and clinical support—will be confirmed for each hospital program.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Physician-led and privately owned with no current plans for private equity ownership
  • Opportunity to focus primarily on hospital-based OB/GYN care
  • Growing hospitalist platform with potential to join new programs as they launch
  • Collaborative coverage model designed to support practice-based OB/GYN physicians
  • Potential for additional compensated leadership opportunities
  • Bilingual and multilingual physicians are highly valued, with a potential language stipend depending on qualifications and certification

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide hospital-based obstetric and gynecologic care within the assigned program
  • Evaluate and manage patients presenting for obstetric care
  • Provide deliveries and other procedures within the scope of the hospitalist program
  • Respond to OB/GYN consultations and urgent clinical needs as assigned
  • Support office-based OB/GYN physicians through hospital and call coverage
  • Provide overflow or secondary-hospital coverage when required
  • Participate in nights, weekends, call, or in-house coverage according to the applicable schedule
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, APPs, and specialty services
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring physicians
  • Follow hospital quality, safety, credentialing, and clinical practice requirements

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Completed accredited OB/GYN residency training
  • Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Board-eligible physicians must meet applicable certification timelines
  • Eligible for Arizona medical licensure; an active Arizona license is strongly preferred for opportunities requiring rapid placement
  • Eligible for applicable hospital privileges and credentialing
  • Strong clinical judgment, dependability, and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Early- to mid-career OB/GYN physicians are of particular interest based on long-term staffing needs
  • Active Arizona medical license
  • Interest in hospital-based obstetrics and collaborative coverage
  • Comfortable joining a new or rapidly expanding hospitalist program
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities
  • J-1 and H-1B candidates may be considered depending on the specific opportunity and timing

Malpractice Coverage

Professional liability coverage is paid while employed. Prior-acts/nose coverage may be available subject to underwriting approval. Tail responsibility varies based on length of employment and applicable plan terms; full details will be reviewed with candidates before acceptance.
