Job Description
Occupational Therapy Full-Time Contract Opportunity at a Leading Level II Trauma CenterJoin our dynamic team at an award-winning Level II Trauma Center in Topeka, Kansas, as an Occupational Therapist. This full-time 26-week contract offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient recovery in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment. Enjoy a regular weekday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with no weekends or on-call responsibilities. You will be part of a collaborative healthcare team, helping patients across various units, including medical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, surgical, ICU, and joint replacements.Bring your expertise to a trusted facility committed to excellence in patient care. This role includes assistive rotations for late joint assessments, with patient loads averaging 7-8 per shift, providing ample opportunity for meaningful clinical interaction. You will work closely with team members, potentially paired with a Physical Therapist during initial orientation, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal patient outcomes.Your responsibilities include conducting patient evaluations, developing treatment plans, and assisting with transfers involving lines and drains, requiring comfort with acutely ill diagnoses. Arriving prepared with foundational certifications and experience in acute hospital settings is essential, specifically in managing complex cases in high-acuity environments.Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field
- Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Current BLS certification (must obtain within first 90 days if not already held)
- NBCOT certification preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR system preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to perform patient transfers involving lines and drains in an acute setting
- Strong assessment and clinical documentation skills
- Experience working in acute care hospital environments
- Prior exposure to trauma, neuro, ortho, cardiac, respiratory, ICU, or surgical units
- Comfort working with acutely ill and variable patient conditions
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
- Minimum 1-2 years of hospital-based OT experience in acute care settings
- Must have or obtain BLS certification within 90 days of employment
- Willingness to work scheduled shifts and assist with late joint assessments on a rotation basis
- Travel and licensure reimbursements applicable where relevant
