Title

Office Based Athletic Trainer- Bronson Hand and Elbow Surgery Specialists- Kalamazoo, MI - $5000 Sign On/Retention Bonus

Under the direction and guidance of an orthopedic physician. Provides general clinical functions for the practice. The office based Athletic Trainer I will be responsible for preparing the patient for examination including initial patient assessment, histories, vital signs, medication reconciliation, immunizations, assists with joint injections, aspirations, cast removal/application, suture and staple removal, applies durable medical equipment, completes FMLA/disability forms, and provides various clinical information and support to providers. The office based ATI will also provide patient education to patients and their families regarding home exercise programs, medication management, referrals, treatment and care including pre and post OP care to ensure a favorable surgery outcome. Performs other duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) approved program.

A Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training is preferred or at least a minimum of 3-5 years of athletic training is required.

BCLS Certification is required.

Epic experience is preferred.

Three plus years' experience as a certified athletic trainer is preferred.

Must successfully complete specific competencies that an incumbent Certified Athletic Trainer must be able to demonstrate through competency skills validation as art of the training process.

Currently a Licensed Athletic Trainer (AT) in good standing with the State of Michigan or eligible for licensure within 90 days of hire.

BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Keyboarding skills to operate a PC/Mobile device.

Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20% of the work time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.

Providing in-services in areas of expertise for the practice

Provide patient triage coverage for the Sports Medicine Same Day Clinic, as needed

Administrative Duties:

Documenting in the electronic health record per compliance guidelines.

Responsible for communicating to leadership limitations that prevent timely documentation.

Maintain accurate, legible and complete electronic medical records.

Participate in process improvement.

Demonstrate time management skills.

In addition, the office based Athletic Trainer has the responsibility to maintain and upgrade his/her competencies based on the population served, the type and nature of the care provided and advances in healthcare sciences and technology.
