The Faculty Fellow for the Women's Leadership Program (WLP) leads a cohort based 9-month program designed to offer faculty and academic staff with potential and interest in academic leadership the necessary time, space, and guidance to advance diverse leadership skills. While the program has an established foundation, the Faculty Fellow is expected to submit a proposal outlining their vision, themes, and approach for the academic year.

The Fellow has flexibility, in consultation with the AVC for Faculty Affairs, to build on prior program materials while refining content, introducing new elements, and aligning the program with current institutional priorities. Program themes may include leadership in higher education, inclusive leadership practices, and communication and conflict navigation.

The Faculty Fellow is encouraged to shape the program in ways that reflect their expertise and leadership perspective while sustaining its core commitment to advancing inclusive academic leadership.

What you will do:

  • Develop a program syllabus outlining goals, structures, and events
  • Design and facilitate sessions throughout the academic year
  • Mentor participants in developing leadership goals and projects
  • Lead the recruitment and selection of program participants
  • Work with OFA on program assessment and continuous improvement

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Current CU Denver rostered faculty member
  • Experience in higher education leadership with a focus on women and gender-diverse faculty and staff development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience, such as program director, department chair, unit head, faculty shared governance, associate dean, among others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge: Knowledge of leadership topics relevant to the program curriculum. Demonstrated understanding of strategies for advancing inclusive leadership in academia and addressing leadership disparities.

Skills: Able to lead workshops and trainings that address sensitive topics, skill-building, and open reflection. Able to build trust with faculty across diverse identities and collaborate effectively with campus entities involved in gender equity. Support faculty and academic staff in developing leadership identity, navigating institutional challenges, and pursuing advancement opportunities.

Ability: Work effectively within CU Denver's governance structures and identify opportunities to support inclusive leadership at CU Denver. Serve as a campus ambassador for the WLP. Help elevate WLP participants' accomplishments through events, storytelling, communications, and partnerships.

Conditions of Employment

  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements

  • The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.
