Job Description
Clayton Services is searching for an Oil & Gas Revenue Accountant to join a thriving company in Denver, Colorado. The Oil & Gas Revenue Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate revenue records, processing revenue transactions, coordinating regulatory filings, and ensuring proper allocation and reporting of oil and gas revenues.*Candidate must relocate to Denver, Colorado. Generous relocation package provided.*Job Type: Direct HirePay Rate: $80,000 – $143,000 annually (based on experience)Benefits: Annual incentive compensation, Paid Time Off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company matchOil & Gas Revenue Accountant Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of all revenue transactions and process proceeds
- Coordinate and support monthly regulatory filings and payments (ONRR, Tribal, BIA, and production taxes)
- Perform allocation of wellhead sales to working interest owners for current and prior period adjustments
- Ensure revenue accounts receivable are properly offset against cash receipts after booking
- Establish revenue agreements and shipper contracts within the accounting system
- Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue variance analyses
- Coordinate with Field and Marketing teams to ensure accuracy of volumes and pricing
- Calculate and record monthly revenue accrual entries
- Coordinate and process monthly revenue payment runs
- Calculate pipeline inventories and imbalances; prepare ledger entries and sales adjustments
- Research, reconcile, and resolve outstanding accounts receivable
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations as assigned
- Manage suspense balances in coordination with the land administration team
- Maintain payout balances and ensure timely prior period adjustments
- Prepare revenue source documentation for audit requests
- Serve as a primary contact for owner inquiries and provide prompt, accurate responses
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting for oil volumes at terminals and in rail cars
- Process owner voids and re-issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong knowledge of oil and gas revenue distributions and division of interest
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience with oil and gas contracts
- Strong account reconciliation and receivables collection skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple organizational levels
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related or accounting discipline preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years of oil and gas revenue accounting experience
- Proficiency with oil and gas accounting software
- Working knowledge of Enertia is a plus
- Experience with tribal and federal lands (Utah experience a plus)
