Location: Hampstead, MD I Onsite
Department: Formulation
Reports To: Formulation Supervisor
Employment Type: Full-Time, 40-hrs/week, occasional overtime required
Position Summary
The Oil Room Formulator is responsible for accurately weighing and verifying ingredients, completing batch documentation, managing inventory, and operating a forklift in accordance with safety, quality, GMP, and company standards. This position maintains an organized work area, returns materials to proper stock locations, serves as a backup Lead Man and trainer, and supports continuous improvement and production goals through leadership and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
· Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
· Work effectively with team members and follow instructions.
· Adhere to all safety, OSHA, GMP, SOP, and company requirements.
· Safely lift and move up to 100 pounds.
· Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.
· Formulate 15,000 to 18,000 pounds of product daily while meeting quality and production standards.
· Verify and use correct P.O., lot, and control numbers for all ingredients.
· Accurately complete batch cards, production reports, and related documentation.
· Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
· Apply basic math, reading comprehension, and problem-solving skills.
· Collect and process product samples as required.
· Stage ingredients and pallets according to production needs.
· Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory procedures.
· Work independently with minimal supervision.
· Train and mentor new formulators.
· Verify ingredient identity, appearance, and weight for accuracy.
· Apply proper formulation sequencing and blending procedures.
· Maintain knowledge of ingredient codes and inventory systems.
· Complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
· Demonstrate proficiency in both Oil Room and Formulation Room operations.
· Serve as backup Lead Man as needed.
· Accurately enter production and inventory data into company systems.
· Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.
· Participate in continuous improvement and process enhancement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED.
· 1-5 years of related experience preferred.
· Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time, bending, stooping, kneeling required.
· Must be able to read production orders to ensure product is labeled and packed correctly.
· Must have the ability to move about for long periods of time.
· Basic math, reading comprehension, and problem-solving skills.
· Use of PPE required
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.35 - $26.70
