Nebraska Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Oncology Pharmacy Specialist – BMT/Hematology to join our nationally recognized program at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. This position supports patients across the continuum of care, with a focus on blood and marrow transplant (BMT) and hematologic malignancies.
Position Overview
The Oncology Pharmacy Specialist serves as an integral member of the BMT/Hematology team, providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role promotes continuity of care, supporting complex oncology patients through transplant, cellular therapy, and longitudinal hematology management.
Key Responsibilities
Inpatient / Acute Care Contributions
Participate in multidisciplinary rounding on BMT and hematology inpatient services
Optimize medication therapy for transplant conditioning, immunosuppression, supportive care, and complications (e.g., GVHD, infections)
Provide real-time clinical decision support to providers and care teams
Support safe medication use and contribute to protocol development and implementation
Ambulatory / Clinic-Based Contributions
Support BMT/hematology clinics through direct patient care, therapy management, and longitudinal follow-up
Manage in-basket messages, treatment plans, and therapy coordination
Provide patient education and counseling for complex oncology regimens
Facilitate transitions of care between care settings
Shared Responsibilities
Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams
Lead and participate in quality improvement, research, and program development initiatives
Precept pharmacy students, PGY1, and PGY2 residents
Contribute to the academic mission through teaching and scholarship
Qualifications
Priority consideration for candidates who meet one of the following:∙ Completion of an Oncology PGY2 or fellowship OR∙ PGY1 plus ≥3 years of oncology clinical specialist experience OR∙ ≥5 years of oncology clinical specialist experience
BCOP certification is expected within 18 months of hire.

This position is eligible for a signing bonus in addition to a competitive, market-based salary commensurate with training and experience.
Shift Details
First shift position (Monday through Friday) with intermittent weekend accountability

Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR possess a Bachelor or Master of pharmacy degree with 10 years of experience required.
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Nebraska or jurisdiction in which pharmacy practice is conducted required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program, as deemed appropriate for patient facing roles and relevant to practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year one residency preferred.
Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice preferred.
