Department: Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology

Job Title: Open Rank Laboratory Science Professional- Pediatric Cardiology Research

Position #: 00804665 - Requisition #: 39951

Job Summary:

The overall focus of this translational research program is to better understand the unique adaptations governing pathological cardiac remodeling and the progression to heart failure in pediatric patients with complex congenital heart disease, including hypoplastic left heart syndrome and other single ventricle defects. This Laboratory Science Professional will have a key role in conducting a variety of experiments exploring the molecular and functional metabolic changes related to heart failure progression in this population. We utilize human tissue and blood samples in addition to cell culture- and murine- based models to conduct experiments evaluating molecular transcriptomic, proteomic, and functional alterations associated with heart failure progression. This work will be important for the identification and development of drug therapies that improve cardiac function and enhance transplant-free survival in a population with few other options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell culture.

  • in vivo and ex vivo murine model work.

  • Human blood sample processing.

  • Molecular and cell biology techniques (RNA, DNA, protein, enzyme activity).

  • Mitochondrial metabolic function assessment (Seahorse, Oroboros O2K).

  • General laboratory maintenance, including reagent preparation, ordering, organization, and inventory cataloging.

Work Location:

Onsite- This role is expected to work onsite and is in Aurora, Colorado.
