Operating Room Transporter/Certified Nursing Assistant

Beloit Health System is hiring an Operating Room Transporter/Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Surgical Services Team at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

The Operating Room Transporter/Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for the safe transportation of the patient to and from the surgical suites and the efficient turnover, clean-up/ set-up and organization of the OR rooms and equipment. The Operating Room Transporter/Certified Nursing Assistant will:

• Report to OR charge nurse for assignment.
• Transport patients as requested.
• Obtain completed patient chart from appropriate staff member.
• Examine chart for completeness, does not transport patient without appropriate documents, reports missing documentation to appropriate RN or OR charge nurse.
• Correctly identify patient to be transported by ID arm band, and second form of identification (i.e., date of birth), chart documents and verbal verification by the patient, if applicable.
• Assist with transferring patient from bed to stretcher maintaining patient safety and privacy.
• Report any unusual patient signs, symptoms or occurrences to OR charge nurse or circulating RN immediately.
• Assist PACU staff with patient transport and other duties as necessary.
• Directs family members to the Surgical Waiting room with appropriate instructions.

Provides patients and family members with encouragement and support.

• Restocks Surgical Services areas, cards, supply areas, etc. as assigned.
• Obtains and organizes supplies and equipment from Central Supply, Loading Dock, and Storeroom as needed or requested.
• Assists with operating room suite cleaning and turn over between cases, along with other restricted areas as needed.
• Assists with maintaining the cleanliness of equipment.
• Assists with orientation of new personnel.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Current CNA Certification with the Wisconsin registry.
• Demonstrates ability to do simple math functions.
• CPR certification within three (3) months of hire.
• Possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
• Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination.
• Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion which includes standing, walking for extensive periods of time. Also assists with lifting patients up to 25 pounds weight, pushing transport carts ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds.
• Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
• Requires ability to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to speak clearly and distinctly and to interact positively with physicians, peers, and patients.

Reporting Relationship: Registered Nurse, Clinical Manager, and Department Director.
