Job Description

Title: Operational Risk Management ConsultantOffice Status: In-OfficePay Rate: $40-$45Contract Length:ABOUT THE ROLEA financial institution is seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional to support the governance and oversight of its branch-wide risk management program. This role will consolidate risk information from across business and functional teams, evaluate trends and exposures, and develop reporting used by senior leadership and governance committees. The ideal candidate understands banking risk frameworks, is comfortable challenging and validating data from stakeholders, and can translate complex risk information into clear, actionable reporting.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the ongoing administration and enhancement of the organization's Operational Risk Management Framework, including related policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
  • Collect, review, challenge, and consolidate operational risk information from business units and functional departments.
  • Evaluate submissions for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and relevance, working directly with stakeholders to address data-quality concerns.
  • Analyze operational risk trends, key risk indicators, emerging issues, and changes in risk exposure to identify significant themes and potential areas of concern.
  • Develop recurring branch-wide operational risk reports and management-level risk summaries to support informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate quarterly operational risk monitoring activities and ensure reporting deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Support the administration of operational risk governance meetings, including agendas, presentation materials, meeting documentation, action tracking, and follow-up.
  • Maintain and periodically review risk policies, procedures, standards, and other governance materials to ensure they remain current and effective.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory requests and examinations, including gathering, reviewing, and organizing requested documentation and information.
  • Monitor adherence to established risk policies and governance requirements and escalate material exceptions or control gaps when appropriate.
  • Contribute to risk-management initiatives involving process improvements, operating-model enhancements, training, awareness, and continuous improvement.
  • Improve risk reporting through data analysis, visualization, automation, and other reporting tools that make risk information more useful to senior leadership and governance committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in banking and risk management.
  • Working knowledge of operational risk or enterprise risk management principles, frameworks, methodologies, and governance practices.
  • Ability to analyze information from multiple departments and identify inconsistencies, trends, emerging risks, and material issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present risk information clearly to management and governance stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple reporting deadlines and stakeholder requests.
  • Detail-oriented with sound judgment and the confidence to follow up with business partners and challenge information when necessary.
  • Experience supporting risk committees, governance forums, regulatory requests, or risk reporting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with data visualization, reporting automation, or risk analytics is a plus.
