Job Summary

The Operation Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial, and personnel management of structured cabling and low-voltage projects. The role provides leadership to Construction Managers, Lead Technicians, and field operations teams while ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer and corporate requirements. The position drives operational excellence through workforce planning, profitability management, customer relationship management, project governance, and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple project teams and operational functions to ensure successful execution and delivery of complex telecommunications, structured cabling, and low-voltage projects.
  • Maintain accountability for project profitability, margin performance, forecasting, budgeting, revenue recognition, and financial results.
  • Conduct monthly WIP reviews and project health assessments to identify risks, improve forecasting accuracy, and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Provide oversight of project closeout activities, documentation compliance, billing completion, and customer acceptance requirements.
  • Provide operational leadership, coaching, guidance, issue resolution, and accountability to establish operational standards and performance expectations.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, scope management, and change order development to ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Lead workforce planning and resource allocation activities to maximize utilization and support business growth objectives.
  • Drive operational reporting, management, workload forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide escalation support for customer concerns and complex project issues while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Safety, Engineering, and Human Resources to support operational success.
  • Ensure operational readiness through staffing, training, tools, equipment, and process compliance.
  • Oversee company tool inventory, allocation, maintenance, documentation, tracking, and calibration requirements.
  • Develop and improve operational processes, SOPs, reporting structures, and operational controls that support standardization and efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop Construction Managers, Lead Technicians, and other operational personnel through training and career development activities.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, safety requirements, quality standards, and contractual obligations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of operational, construction, telecommunications, or project management leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading large operational teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, profitability management, WIP reviews, and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing Construction Managers, Lead Technicians, and cross-functional operational teams.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, and low-voltage construction environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel as required to support customer and project needs.
