Job Description Summary:

Job Description:

Ophthalmic Technician duties include working with patients and physicians for examination and treatment of the eyes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet patients and escort them to room.
  • Obtain patient's chief complaint, medical history, medications and allergies, and eye history.
  • Check patient's eye prescription with lensometer.
  • Check patients vision, pupils, motility, visual field, IOP, Color vision.
  • Complete refraction of patient.
  • Complete eye dilation on patients as applicable.
  • Also includes having consent forms signed and helping with lasers and injects in office
  • Cleaning instruments and exam rooms
  • Maintain and Stock rooms with supplies.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to organizational policy and procedure.
  • Translating for patients if applicable.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description:

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • JCAHPO certification and COA/COT (preferred)
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic testing (preferred)
  • The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
