Job Description

Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Ophthalmic Technician
  • Location: Glenbrook Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time (32 hours per week)
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; may need coverage for holidays
  • Required Travel: This role includes some travel to other locations and requires flexible hours to meet operational needs

A Brief Overview:As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various eye conditions. You will work in a state-of-the-art facility and collaborate closely with our eye care team to ensure the best possible patient experience.What you will do:

  • We are seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Technician to join our Ophthalmology team who can perform most clinical skills. FA (Fluorescein Angiography) skills are a plus
  • Performing preliminary eye examinations and assessments, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil reactions, and visual field testing.
  • Obtaining detailed patient medical history, including eye-related complaints, medications, and relevant health information.
  • Administering specialized ophthalmic tests and procedures such as tonometry, keratometry, optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, and pachymetry.
  • Assisting ophthalmologists during eye examinations, surgeries, and laser treatments, ensuring patients are comfortable and well-informed about the procedure.
  • Educating patients on eye care procedures, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and the proper use and care of contact lenses or eyeglasses.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, test results, and treatment plans in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Performing routine maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and ensure they are in proper working order.
  • Assisting in the sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment for eye surgeries.
  • Collaborating effectively with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive eye care services.
