Our loading dock sensor platform verifies all incoming and outgoing freight, aggregating data that enables shippers and carriers to efficiently manage dock operations, switch out suppliers and understand material flow in real time.

Responsibilities
- Drive development of Kargo's camera-based computer vision systems, including ideation and early concept development, modeling, proof of concept assembly, testing and analysis.
- Work with Sales and Product team members to refine system optical requirements for our camera and illumination system.
- Explore new concepts through mechanical design, optical modeling, and fast iterative prototyping.
- Create lab test protocols and image quality metrics to validate lens, module, and camera shroud evaluation.
- Perform advanced mechanical design, detailed drawings, tolerancing, and analysis (FEA, thermal, vibrational, etc).
- Work with suppliers to get opto-mechanical components and subassemblies manufactured per specification.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design, designing, building, and validating imaging optics at scale.
- Experience in lens and illumination systems, testing and validation.
- Familiarity with optical simulation design using Zemax, LightTools, FRED, TracePro, or CODEV.
- Solid knowledge of optical system analysis, optical design, and optical material.
- Experience in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and PLM software (Arena preferred).
- Strong hands-on skill set in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting capability with optical systems.
- Experience in lens selection, design, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with CMOS Image sensors or related imaging areas, a plus.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics or related field.
