Description
This Opto-Mechanical Engineering Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading the design and development of infrared optical assemblies from concept to production release
- Translating optical prescriptions into robust and manufacturable opto‑mechanical designs
- Defining and implementing lens mounting, retention, and alignment strategies for harsh environments
- Creating and managing CAD models, drawings, and configurations in Creo Parametric
- Partnering with optical designers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to meet DFM/DFA and production requirements
- Overseeing assembly processes for multi‑lens systems, including passive and active alignment
- Supporting material and coating selection, adhesive/epoxy evaluation, and process optimization
- Driving environmental qualification testing such as thermal cycling, shock/vibration, sealing, and contamination control
- Performing and reviewing tolerance analyses to ensure optical performance compliance
- Establishing design standards, best practices, and review processes
- Mentoring and developing engineering team members
Profile
A Successful Opto-Mechanical Engineering Manager will be:
- Holding a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Opto‑Mechanical Engineering (master's preferred)
- Bringing 5+ years of experience designing IR optical assemblies (SWIR, MWIR, LWIR)
- Bringing 3+ years of experience managing or guiding technical engineering teams
- Demonstrating expertise in converting optical prescriptions into robust mechanical designs
- Working knowledge of multi‑lens alignment methods (passive and active)
- Supporting environmental qualification processes including vibration, shock, and thermal cycling
- Showing advanced proficiency with Creo Parametric and GD&T
- Applying hands‑on DFM/DFA knowledge for IR hardware manufacturing
