The OR Inventory Coordinator coordinates the ordering, flow, and distribution of supplies for perioperative services. Maintains appropriate inventory levels to support excellent patient care while utilizing perpetual inventory procedures. Assists in procurement of special-order supplies and equipment. Performs the fundamental duties of the OR Materials Coordinator as needed.

Job Description

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. GENERAL DUTIES

  • Maintains the perpetual inventory using the guidelines established by the organization.
  • Coordinates supply flow between vendors and internal supply chain.
  • Expedites backorders and locates appropriate substitutes when necessary. Communicates inventory issues to clinical staff and management.
  • Creates daily supply requisitions and purchase orders based on requirements. Verifies order confirmations and pricing on a daily basis. Inspects incoming deliveries for accuracy and damage. Stocks supplies to appropriate locations.
  • Works with vendors and internal stakeholders to correct pricing discrepancies.
  • Maintains operating room areas in accordance with sterile/clean guidelines and procedures. Cleans and organizes all supply bins on a routine basis.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions. Operates assigned equipment in a safe manner as instructed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Appropriate combination of education and work experience is required:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 1 (one) year of experience in Medical Supply Chain, Procurement, and issue of supplies in a perpetual inventory environment.
  • 2 years of work experience will be considered in lieu of education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Preferred: Ability to function in a clean/sterile environment.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial and budgetary reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Negotiation/conflict resolutions skills.
  • Understanding of product standardization and cost savings concepts.
