Location: Various- Gresham, NE Portland, NW Portland -- metro area travel will be required (with gas reimbursement)
Schedule: In-person, Mon- Fri, 8:00am- 5:00pm

Position Overview:
The Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Specialist supports clients in accessing healthcare coverage by guiding them through enrollment, eligibility, and renewal processes for OHP and the Federal Marketplace. This is a highly interactive role involving daily client contact and frequent communication with state agencies, tribal communities, and partner organizations.
Working closely with internal teams, the OHP Specialist ensures accurate coverage and continuity of care while building trusted relationships with diverse populations. This role combines outreach, case management, and advocacy to help individuals navigate complex systems and access essential health services.
What you will do:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients seeking health coverage, providing intake, application assistance, and ongoing support
- Track application status, eligibility, and renewal timelines; follow up to ensure continuity of coverage
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) and verify insurance information
- Communicate regularly with Oregon state agencies, health systems, and other partners to resolve application and eligibility issues
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external community partners
- Conduct outreach efforts, including phone-based outreach and in-person community engagement events
- Build relationships with diverse populations, including Native American/Alaska Native communities, unhoused individuals, and clients in residential and correctional settings
- Educate clients and community members about health insurance options
- Assist clients in obtaining required documentation (citizenship, tribal heritage, etc.)
- Support applications for additional services such as SNAP, Social Security, and voter registration
- Participate in training NARA staff on OHP and Marketplace processes
- Travel to various sites across the Portland metro area during training and for ongoing outreach
- Perform other duties as assigned
Please Note: This position is primarily based in NW Portland (near St. Helens); however, initial training will take place in Gresham for approximately 3-4 weeks. The primary worksite is expected to transition to Gresham between 2027-2029, with the move beginning later in 2026.
This role requires regular travel throughout the Portland metropolitan area, including visits to multiple sites and participation in community outreach. A willingness and ability to drive between locations is essential. Gas will be reimbursed when traveling during the workday.
