Job Description

Current Salary is $19.61 per hour. 

Position Summary: 

KQED provides Northern California communities with a member-supported alternative to commercial media—delivering trusted information, fostering dialogue, and bringing arts and culture to broad audiences. 

The Audience team is focused on building the next generation of public media users and supporters. The Organic and Paid Social Media Marketing Intern will help bring this mission to life by supporting paid media campaigns and organic social content across KQED’s platforms. In this role, you’ll contribute to campaign execution, optimization, and reporting—gaining hands-on experience while helping reach new and younger audiences. KQED envisions a public media organization with a culture that centers on human dignity, equity, and belonging. This role will work hybrid between working inKQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. 

Essential Functions: 

Assist in building and executing paid advertising campaigns across platforms (e.g., Meta, Google Ads, CTV) 

Identify opportunities to optimize campaign performance and test new tactics Pull, analyze, and report on campaign performance data across platforms (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Sprout Social) 

Support the creation and scheduling of organic social content (static and video) across KQED’s main channels 

Contribute to campaign planning and performance tracking for key initiatives (e.g., KQED Live events promotion) 

Document processes and help build templates, playbooks, and standard operating procedures 

Stay up to date on social and digital marketing trends and share insights with the Audience team and key stakeholders 

Participate in brainstorming sessions to improve content strategy and campaign performance 

Other Job Functions: 

Support day-to-day campaign operations and coordination for the Audience team (primarily working with the Marketing Manager and Social Media Associate) Track deliverables and campaign deadlines

Conduct research on digital marketing trends, social media and paid media best practices 

Perform other duties as assignedKnowledge/Experience Required: 

Proficiency in G-Suite 

Strong communication and organizational skills 

Detail-oriented and analytical 

Experience in paid advertising strategies and platforms 

Interest in data-driven decision-making 

Curiosity and growth mindset 

Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Economics, or a related field — or equivalent work experience 

Knowledge/Experience Desired: 

Experience using paid media platforms for advertising (Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.) Interest in nonprofit or public media marketing 

Experience with campaign reporting or data visualization (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Excel, Google Sheets) 

Experience in copywriting and messaging 

Experience using social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite) 

Experience using design platforms to create social graphics (e.g., Canva)#LI-hybrid
