We are currently looking to fill an OST Security Officer role at our Southeast office in Chicago. 

SALARY:

  • The average pay for this position will fall in the range of $19 and $21 hourly. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Reports acts of trespassing, vandalism, and loitering to supervisory staff. Reports acts of trespassing, vandalism, and loitering to supervisory staff.
  • Checks doors and windows to ensure they are properly secured.
  • Monitors schools entrances to prevent unauthorized entry to building.
  • Patrols hallways and lavatories within building to ensure only authorized persons are allowed access and to prevent vandalism.
  • Monitors lunchroom areas to maintain order among students and to prevent vandalism.
  • May assist in the supervision of students on school buses and in school in order to maintain discipline and order.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Previous work experience in safety and security, preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic methods of providing site safety and security, preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic safety rules and procedures, preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when responding to safety and security violations and emergencies, preferred.
  • Ability to work with school aged children in enforcing safety rules and procedures, preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, preferred.
  • Good oral communication skills, good human relations and interpersonal skills, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic methods of providing site security and safety.
  • Knowledge of basic safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when responding to safety and security violations and emergencies.
  • Ability to work with school aged children in enforcing safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.

TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driving for work preferred with a personally owned vehicle. Travel between sites required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
