Job Description

Position Overview:

As a CDLA Yard Jockey you are responsible for safely maneuvering tractor-trailer combinations within the confines of the yard. This position requires excellent driving skills, attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

Operating yard trucks (horses) to move trailers within the yard and docking/undocking from the loading docksEnsuring accurate positioning of trailers for loading and unloading in a safe and timely mannerCollaborating and communicating with Warehouse and Dispatch personnel to prioritize the movement of trailers based on the shipping and receiving schedulesConducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard trucks to ensure they are in good working conditions - if pre or post trip do not meet company safety policies - following current process for out of service equipment proceduresMaintaining accurate and timely records of trailer movements and locations within the yardMaintaining an organized and efficient trailer parking processEnsuring proper flow of inbound and outbound trailer movement in tandem with Warehouse and DispatchReporting any issues promptly to shift leadershipPerforming basic maintenance yard checks for fueling needs, products, supplied, returns on staged trailers and proper temperatures are maintainedMoving trailers from different sites - Fleet maintenance, Original Distribution and New Distribution centersMaintaining a safe and clean working environmentFlexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidaysPerform other duties as assigned by leadership

Experience:

Preferred: One (1) year minimum active driving experienceRequired: CDL-A License required (Valid & Active)Required: 21+ years or older

Skills:

Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shiftPhysical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment - getting on and off equipment throughout shiftStrong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basisOrganizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesWorking in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest qualityQuality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
