Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed
  • Perform field engineering activities and support resolution of production issues
  • Assist in creation of Condition Found Reports for repair jobs
  • Create and distribute Engineering Work Packages
  • Assist design engineers in reviewing Basic, Detail, and Production Design drawings
  • Assist with creation of Design Change Notices, including drawing preparation or revisions
  • Assist with sea trial preparations
  • Assist with coordination of as-built vessel drawings
  • Support subcontractor and material coordination
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

COMPETENCIES

  • Safety and Compliance: Strong knowledge of HPSI and shipyard safety regulations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate technical information clearly to engineers, production teams, and subcontractors.
  • Problem Solving and Decision: Making Ability to identify and resolve production issues efficiently.
  • Project and Time Management: Effective at managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Improvement: Willingness to learn new processes, tools, and engineering techniques.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing degrees in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Proficiency with engineering and design software, including AutoCAD, Navisworks, and SAP preferred
  • Exposure to production, construction, or manufacturing environments a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and subcontractors
  • S. work authorization required - no sponsorship available

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be executed indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is an on-site, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.
