Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the operational, clinical, regulatory, and personnel management of the PACE pharmacy. This position ensures the safe, effective, and financially responsible provision of pharmacy services to PACE participants while supporting the organization's mission of helping older adults remain safely living in the community. The Pharmacy Manager oversees daily pharmacy operations, medication distribution systems, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, inventory management, and pharmacy staff performance while collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and clinical PACE pharmacist to optimize participant outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee daily operations of the PACE pharmacy, ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely medication dispensing and delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and workflows that support organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish operational standards and performance metrics to ensure high-quality pharmacy services.
  • Manage pharmacy staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and departmental productivity.
  • Participate in strategic planning, program development, and growth initiatives for pharmacy services.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement
  • Review medication regimens for appropriateness, safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness to ensure medication therapy management processes support optimal participant outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical pharmacists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members regarding medication-related care.
  • Support medication reconciliation and transitions of care activities.
  • Facilitate formulary management and medication-use evaluations.
  • Assist in developing clinical initiatives that improve quality measures and participant outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, CMS, PACE, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to maintain pharmacy licenses, registrations, permits, and required documentation.
  • Lead preparation for pharmacy inspections and audits.
  • Monitor, investigate and report medication-related incidents, errors, and adverse drug events.
  • Implement corrective action plans and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain policies and procedures related to controlled substance management and diversion prevention.
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Foster employee engagement, professional growth, and teamwork.
  • Ensure staff competency through education, training, and compliance programs.
  • Oversee pharmacy inventory, procurement, and medication storage practices.
  • Monitor pharmacy expenses and support budget development and performance.
  • Manage relationships with wholesalers, manufacturers, and service vendors.
  • Identify opportunities for cost containment while maintaining quality care.
  • Ensure appropriate medication billing, documentation, and reimbursement practices.
  • Support participant-centered care aligned with PACE principles.
  • Address participant, caregiver, and provider concerns related to medications and pharmacy services.
  • Promote exceptional service and communication across all customer groups.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Missouri
  • Immunization Certification.
  • Medication therapy services (MTS) certification (or the willingness to do so within the first 30 days) from the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy leadership or management experience.
  • Experience in ambulatory care, long-term care, specialty pharmacy, PACE or geriatric services.
