Job Description
Job Summary:
A Para-transit driver is a person who, under the supervision of a manager, supervisor, dispatcher or trainer, operates a van over routes transporting clients to and from designated locations. May work with disruptive or assultive passengers. Drivers may also work with severely handicapped individuals.
Duties:
- Drive a Van daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, loading and unloading clients at designated locations.
- Perform daily inspections of Vans and associated equipment prior to transportation of passengers.
- Maintain good order and discipline among passengers or clients.
- Follow company policies regarding client management and relations with passengers, medical practitioners, medical facilities, and the public in general.
- Keep records and submit reports as required.
- Refuel vans as required.
- Report all mechanical deficiencies in writing promptly.
- Conduct safe riding instruction as directed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements:
- State of Wisconsin Class D Commercial Drivers License
- Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of assigned vehicles including extra equipment such as wheelchair lifts under all road and weather conditions.
Preferred Employment Standards:
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age with 3 years driving experience
