Empowered Staffing is partnered with a leading healthcare real estate investment and management company seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its legal team in Skokie, IL.
They are looking for a highly organized Paralegal to support acquisitions and other corporate and real estate transactions, manage diligence and closing processes, maintain entity records, and help keep legal matters and transaction deadlines organized from start to finish.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Support acquisitions, financings, refinancings, joint ventures, management agreements, and other corporate and real estate transactions from initial diligence through closing and post-closing.
- Maintain transaction checklists, closing calendars, responsibility lists, and status reports while proactively following up on outstanding items and deadlines.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, compare, format, and circulate transaction documents, signature pages, consents, resolutions, and closing binders.
- Manage document execution and signature processes, including tracking outstanding signatures and maintaining final executed copies.
- Coordinate with internal teams as well as outside counsel, lenders, title companies, brokers, consultants, and counterparties.
- Assist with entity formation, qualification, governance, annual reporting, and registered-agent matters.
- Maintain organizational charts, entity records, legal files, and closing sets using consistent filing and version-control practices.
- Track contractual obligations, renewal and notice dates, filing deadlines, post-closing deliverables, and other compliance requirements.
- Conduct targeted legal and factual research and assist with legal department process improvements.
- Provide support with litigation, claims, subpoenas, document collection, and related deadline tracking as needed.
Required Skills Experience:
- 6+ years of relevant paralegal experience within a law firm, corporate legal department, real estate investment firm, financial institution, or similarly complex business environment.
- Strong understanding of real estate and transactional processes, with commercial real estate experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, financing, leasing, joint ventures, corporate transactions, or private equity transactions preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple transactions, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong drafting, proofreading, formatting, redlining, and version-control skills.
- Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, identify issues, and take ownership of assignments through completion.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with attorneys, executives, internal teams, and outside parties.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, and document-management or virtual data-room platforms.
- Litigation experience is transferable; healthcare or skilled nursing real estate experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
