Paralegal - Defense Litigation New York, NY 10003Pay Rate: $35-45/hr• Schedule: 2-3 months of training fully in office, then a minimum of 3 days in office hybrid schedule.6 month contract with potential extension 25-02907• Job Summary• The Paralegal supports attorneys in managing litigation matters with a focus on insurance defense and New York practice. This role is responsible for drafting legal documents, handling discovery processes, maintaining case files, and ensuring compliance with court procedures and deadlines. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing and managing litigation matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, and responses to discovery demands
- Prepare and process discovery documents, including authorizations
- Manage large-scale document production and coordinate timely submissions
- Maintain and organize case files and legal documentation
- Analyze documents and catalog exhibits for litigation use
- Conduct legal research and perform cite checking on briefs
- Monitor case progress and track court deadlines in accordance with procedural rules
- Initiate and maintain legal holds using designated software systems
- Manage electronic document repositories and review platforms
- Perform electronic filing of legal documents through appropriate court systems
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to gather required documentation
- Complete additional litigation support tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
- Strong experience drafting discovery responses, demands, and various legal motions
- Extensive experience processing legal authorizations
- Experience with insurance defense litigation and New York legal procedures required
- Knowledge of court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements
- Proficiency in electronic filing systems and legal document management platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Work Experience
- Prior experience as a Paralegal supporting litigation required
- Experience in New York insurance defense litigation strongly preferred
