Paralegal (On-Site)

HEPCO is seeking a Paralegal for our client, a New York State regulatory agency in Albany. This position supports the review and processing of External Appeal applications and the investigation of complaints involving regulated insurance companies. The role requires careful analysis of legal and policy documentation, application of statutory requirements, and consistent communication with consumers and regulated entities.

• Evaluate External Appeal applications for eligibility under Insurance Law Article 49
• Screen requests for External Appeals in accordance with the Federal No Surprise Act
• Review requests in accordance with Insurance Law, applicable regulations, and established agency protocols
• Request and review necessary documentation from appropriate parties
• Investigate complaints against regulated insurance companies and apply statutory mandates and policy provisions
• Communicate findings and determinations upon completion of investigations
• Serve as liaison with consumers and representatives of financial entities through written and verbal communication
• Maintain accurate, organized, and up to date electronic case files
• Research, process, and resolve consumer and provider complaints
• Perform related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

• Paralegal Certificate required
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Ability to interpret and apply legal mandates and regulatory requirements
• Strong project management skills with experience handling multiple time sensitive and complex files simultaneously
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
• Demonstrated reliability with strong time and attendance record

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
