Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our growing team. In this role, you will work closely with attorneys to support all phases of family law and estate planning matters, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, courts, and other entities. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional who is passionate about helping clients navigate some of life's most challenging moments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to incoming consultation calls and handle general phone communications for the firm.
- Communicate directly with clients, courts, and outside entities to facilitate case progression and address inquiries.
- Build, maintain, and manage detailed client files to ensure accuracy and accessibility throughout each matter.
- Coordinate attorney and client appointments and keep litigation calendars current and up to date.
- Handle the filing of pleadings and assist in drafting, organizing, and responding to discovery documents and demands.
- Gather and secure necessary records, documentation, and expert discovery materials in support of active cases.
- Manage the logistics of deposition scheduling, including coordination with all relevant parties.
- Compose and prepare professional written correspondence as directed by attorneys.
- Maintain well-organized case materials, including client files, pleadings, exhibit binders, and discovery records.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience.
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Paralegal certification preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in family law and/or estate planning a plus.
- Knowledge of e-filing systems across multiple jurisdictions, including Maryland and Washington, DC courts.
- Strong proofreading ability with keen attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, independent thinker with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member in a high-volume, fast-paced legal environment.
