Job Description

Plaintiff Litigation Paralegal

An established plaintiff-side litigation firm in Los Angeles is seeking a highly motivated Paralegal with strong civil litigation experience and a demonstrated commitment to litigation-focused work.

The firm is looking for someone with a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset who enjoys substantive involvement in complex litigation matters and thrives in a collaborative team setting. This opportunity is ideal for a Paralegal who wants hands-on exposure to all phases of litigation and meaningful participation in trial preparation and trial support.

The practice handles plaintiff-side matters involving catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, employment litigation, and other complex civil litigation disputes. The litigation team works closely together throughout the life of each case, with particularly strong collaboration as matters move toward trial.

This is not a purely administrative or file-management position. The role is heavily focused on active litigation responsibilities, strategic case support, and trial preparation.

Position Responsibilities

  • The Paralegal will assist attorneys and litigation teams with a broad range of substantive litigation responsibilities, including:
  • Drafting complaints, pleadings, and litigation-related documents
  • Drafting and responding to written discovery
  • Preparing meet-and-confer letters, discovery motions, and motions to compel
  • Assisting with law and motion practice and related filings
  • Preparing subpoenas, deposition notices, and deposition summaries
  • Coordinating and managing document productions and litigation files
  • Summarizing medical records, deposition transcripts, and case materials
  • Assisting with expert discovery, expert materials, and expert deadlines
  • Maintaining litigation calendars and monitoring discovery and trial deadlines
  • Preparing trial materials, including exhibit lists, witness lists, trial binders, motions in limine, pretrial filings, and deposition designations
  • Coordinating with clients, experts, vendors, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel
  • Providing trial preparation and trial support assistance
  • Conducting legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and related platforms
  • Assisting with California state and federal e-filing procedures and court requirements

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation experience, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced litigation environment.

  • Strong litigation drafting and discovery experience required
  • Experience with trial preparation and trial support strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and deadline-management skills required
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys and team members is required
  • An active Paralegal Certificate is required
