Job Description
Position Summary
We’re hiring a Paralegal to take ownership of an active caseload and shepherd each matter from opening through conclusion. You’ll partner closely with attorneys on strategy, act as the go-to contact for clients assigned to your files, and keep every moving piece organized and on schedule. This is a self-directed role — success depends on strong judgment, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to hold multiple cases at once without letting anything slip. A well-run caseload here means happier clients, stronger outcomes, and a more efficient legal team overall.
What You’ll Do
- Own the client relationship on your assigned matters — answer questions, deliver status updates, and make sure attorneys are looped in on anything that affects direction or strategy.
- Carry cases from intake through resolution, keeping deadlines, next steps, and open items visible and on pace.
- Build detailed financial profiles for clients by pulling together asset, liability, and income data that attorneys rely on when shaping legal strategy.
- Assemble case packets and supporting documentation so attorneys can walk into any conversation or filing fully prepared.
- Audit files on a regular cadence to flag gaps, chase down missing records, and keep clients current on documentation requests and payment arrangements.
- Track billable time accurately and log every meaningful case event in the firm’s practice management platform so billing and case history stay clean.
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s degree or above.
- At least two years working as a paralegal or in a comparable case management capacity.
- A track record of running a caseload on your own — start to finish — without loss of accuracy or momentum.
- Comfort working with numbers; you can look at a client’s financial picture and understand what it’s telling you.
- Experience juggling a high volume of client touchpoints and paperwork while keeping everything confidential and orderly.
- Sharp written and spoken communication; you can translate legal and financial detail into something clients actually understand.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive), Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Organized to the point that nothing falls through the cracks, even when everything feels urgent.
Nice to Have
- Formal paralegal certification.
- Background in tax, bankruptcy, or real estate practice areas.
- Real fluency with financial statements, tax filings, and related documentation.
How Success Is Measured
- Hit at least 1,200 billable hours per year.
- Keep your caseload moving at the pace the firm expects, aligned with internal timelines and standards.
- Clients feel heard, informed, and respected throughout their matter.
- Case records and documentation are clean, complete, and audit-ready.
