Nexxen Fraud Alert and Notice: Protect Yourself from Impersonation and Fraudulent Activity

Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Compliance Paralegal with a strong technology background to join our legal and compliance team. The Compliance Paralegal will play a vital role in ensuring the company's adherence to external compliance requirements on a range of federal, state, and local laws and regulations and internal standards focusing on data governance and privacy, industry best practices, and contract review. We are looking for a person seeking an opportunity to expand their legal, compliance, and privacy experience in the exciting ad-tech industry while also working with a small and nimble team. This role reports to the VP, Legal.

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance: Assist in and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's compliance program, ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (with a focus on those relating to advertising and data privacy). Maintain accurate records of compliance activities (including critical external and internal milestone dates), audits, assessments, and other relevant documentation.

  • Privacy: Support the privacy program including developing privacy policies, training and awareness programs, tools, guidance, and related policies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to conduct and complete data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), privacy impact assessments (PIAs), transfer impact assessments (TIAs), and similar assessments for new projects, products, and initiatives, provide support for privacy-by-design, incident response, data subject rights requests, and other program initiatives.

  • Sensitive Data Element Monitoring: Assist in monitoring projects related to sensitive data elements and collaborate with technical teams to implement appropriate blocking measures.

  • RFPs: Actively participate in the request for proposal (RFP) process from the legal and compliance stakeholder perspective.

  • Data Compilation and Reporting: Assist in compiling and maintaining relevant data and statistics/KPIs related to legal and compliance efforts. Contribute to the preparation of reports and updates for the broader organization, providing insights into compliance achievements, challenges, and areas of improvement.

  • IVT/MFA Monitoring: Support the monitoring of Invalid Traffic (IVT) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) practices, assisting technology teams as necessary.

  • Publisher Vetting: Collaborate with relevant teams to assist in the vetting of publishers, ensuring their compliance with company policies and external regulations.

  • Contract Review: Assist in the review, analysis, and organization of contracts to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide support on contract terms and potential risks.

Min Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal specialist in compliance and privacy within the technology sector or a related industry

  • Familiarity with GDPR, CPRA, and similar evolving regional data protection standards

  • Strong research skills with a desire to understand new and evolving areas of law

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in using JIRA or similar project management tools for monitoring compliance initiatives

  • High ability in using technology tools for compiling and analyzing data, creating workflows, reports, processes, and other artifacts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal and compliance concepts to non-legal stakeholders

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Bonus Qualifications:

  • IAPP certification(s)

  • Familiarity with DSPs, SSPs, RTB, ad exchanges, and programmatic advertising ecosystem (including Invalid Traffic (IVT) and Made-for-Advertising (MFA))

  • Familiarity with Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), and Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) standards and guidelines

  • Experience setting up and implementing contract management tools

In support of pay transparency and equity, the minimum and maximum full-time annual base salary for this role is $75,000 - $105,000 at the time of posting. While this is our reasonable expectation this is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. We offer a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, 401(k), EAP, parental leave, unlimited vacation, and company-paid holidays.
