Litigation Paralegal (Contract)
Location: West Los Angeles
Rate: 40-43/hr
Hybrid · West Los Angeles
A renowned Los Angeles education institution with offices in West LA is adding a contract paralegal to its in-house legal department. This is a working seat next to counsel, not a document review project.
The work
Employment claims. Support fact development on agency claims. Pull documents from departments across a large organization, identify people with relevant knowledge, schedule interviews, keep the claim log current, and drive responses to deadline with in-house and outside counsel.
Preservation notices. Review preservation demands and pleadings, identify which custodians should receive notice, and recommend that list to counsel. Draft matter summaries and notices from template, chase acknowledgments, and update as matters develop.
Discovery. Collection, organization, review, redaction, and production in response to discovery and subpoenas. Legal research and backup coverage for the paralegal team.
What we need
- Litigation paralegal experience, ideally including employment matters
- Preservation and litigation hold exposure, or the judgment to pick it up fast
- Someone who tracks their own open items without being chased
- Clean written work product for attorney review
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
