Description:

Under the direction of the City Parks Supervisor, performs duties necessary for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of City parks and public property.

Duties:

• Daily maintenance of City or Canyon parks/properties, cemeteries, and trees including turf grass care, flower/shrub/tree planter care, tree care, and grounds maintenance.
• Visually check all City or Canyon Park and Cemeteries surface areas each day for safety compliance and cleanliness.
• Clean restrooms, pavilions, and picnic tables in City or Canyon Parks and Cemeteries.
• Pick up garbage and litter in City or Canyon Parks and Cemeteries.
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Assist with sprinkler repair as needed.
• Operate landscape maintenance equipment as needed, and at various sites.
• Attend required monthly staff safety meetings.
• Occasionally perform functions on holidays and weekends as assigned.
• Must have professional positive attitude with good communication and customer service skills.

All other duties as assigned by staff leadership.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience in grounds maintenance preferred, but not required. Must have a valid Utah Driver's License with a clean driving record. Some positions available for 16 and over.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Must be able to legally drive a City owned fleet vehicle under government guidelines.
• Must be able to safely operate and use landscape maintenance equipment and cleaning supplies.
• Must be able to read and write legibly.
• Must be able to follow directions and perform work assignments.

Physical Demands:

Must be physically fit enough to walk long distances, work outside in all types of weather, lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, crawl and sit.
