Job Description
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Community Services Director, performs a variety of duties in support of the Municipality's code enforcement and property maintenance programs. This position enforces applicable municipal ordinances, codes, and regulations related to zoning, property maintenance, health and safety, blight, and other matters of public concern.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and participate in code enforcement and property maintenance activities; prepare and maintain accurate records and files
- Conduct field inspections and investigations of properties to identify ordinance and code violations
- Prepare and issue notices of violation, citations, and related enforcement documentation
- Attend court hearings and provide testimony related to ordinance violations, as required
- Prepare weekly reports documenting inspection activity and violation status
- Schedule and conduct follow‑up inspections and compliance activities, including correspondence, phone calls, meetings, and site visits
- Maintain electronic and hard‑copy files of inspection reports, photographs, and supporting documentation for reporting and court purposes
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with municipal staff, property owners, tenants, and the general public
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing
- Other duties as assigned
